Research tells us that most victims of child sexual abuse do not talk about it. They don’t tell anyone at the time and even as adults, when the danger is over, many still  do not tell anyone.

Stop it Now! Black Country and Birmingham believes that child sexual abuse is preventable, not inevitable, and provides a unique set of services which enhance community protection against child sexual abuse. We aim to safeguard children and young people from abuse by collaborating with individuals and agencies to develop a more child sensitive and offender aware culture.

‘The Practitioners Role for Preventing Child Sexual Abuse’ Training 

This training explores some of today’s key issues surrounding child sexual abuse and will help practitioners understand how they can help prevent abuse from taking place.

By the end of the training, participants will be able to:

• Identify what constitutes healthy sexual development
• Demonstrate awareness of the warning signs of sexually abusive behaviours
• Identify how values and attitudes impact on sexual abuse
• Describe how practitioners can play their part in preventing child sexual abuse
• State legal and organisational procedures if a child discloses sexual abuse or an adult or child discloses worrying sexual behaviour
• Identify vulnerabilities for front-line workers
• Demonstrate an awareness of the resiliency approach and building blocks
• Demonstrate an awareness of the roles of the Stop it Now! campaign and its confidential Helpline
