Stop it Now! UK and Ireland is a child sexual abuse prevention campaign. We support adults to play their part in prevention through providing sound information, educating members of the public, training those who work with children and families and running our freephone confidential Helpline.

Our Helpline is available to:

adults worried about the behaviour of other adults or children and young people
those worried about their own sexual thoughts or behaviour towards children, including those with concerns about their online behaviour
friends and relatives of people arrested for sexual offending, including internet offending
any other adult with a concern about child sexual abuse – including survivors and professionals

We believe that child sexual abuse is preventable, not inevitable, and urge abusers and potential abusers to seek help. By working together we can prevent child sexual abuse.

Due to government cut backs, our Stop it Now! England campaign has lost vital funds. Its work to equip adults with the information they need to protect children is under threat from April 1st 2013 when current funding expires.

1 in 6 children experience some form of sexual abuse in their childhood – but only a small proportion of offences get reported. Recent media coverage of high profile child sexual abuse cases demonstrate that sexual abuse can happen anywhere – without anyone noticing the signs. It is also common for those with concerns to not know where to go for help.

Prevening abuse: creating no more victims

We work to prevent abuse from happening in the first place; before there is an offender to punish and a victim to heal. Children should not be expected to protect themselves. Adults need to know the signs to look out for in children and adults and know where to get help if they have concerns.
