steering group, made up form a wide range of agencies in the Thames Valley concerned with sexual abuse (including statutory and voluntary agencies involved in child protection and offender treatment) has been meeting for some time to establish Stop it Now! in the Thames Valley. We plan to take the work of forward by:

  • Making links and sharing good practice with a wider range of those in the Thames Valley with expertise in preventing and treating sexual abuse.

  • Finding out what is needed to resource and support those on the 'front line' of child sexual abuse including community and neighbourhood organisations.

  • Thinking globally and acting locally. There is a great deal of visionary thinking nationally and internationally on how children can be protected and nourished, and what role we, as adults should play in this. Stop it Now! Thames Valley plans to harness this thinking, and to use it to inspire a dialogue among those working in the Thames Valley area

Stop it Now! Thames Valley

In the Thames Valley, Stop it Now! is hosted by the Thames Valley Partnership, a charity which brings people and organisations together to create safer communities and prevent crime within Oxfordshire, Buckinghamshire and Berkshire. Its work is broadly based within four projects 'Never Too Early' - early interventions, 'Never Too Late' - working with offenders, 'Close To Home' - changing attitudes to domestic abuse and 'Art At The Heart' - exploring the role of arts in community safety. The Stop It Now! campaign is an integral part of the Close To Home project and reflects a commitment to involving local agencies and communities to prevent child sexual abuse and protect children.

Stop it Now! Thames Valley welcomes approaches from those who wish to work with us on this campaign and also currently offers individual volunteering opportunities.
