Setting positive goals

People who struggle with sexual thoughts of children often experience feelings of fear, guilt and shame, which reduce their self-esteem and diminish their hopes for the future.

Although it may seem difficult or trivial, it is important to spend some time thinking about some positive goals that will help you move towards being the person you want to be. It is important to set goals in manageable bite size ways that makes them much more achievable and makes change even more likely.


Answer the following questions:

  • What are my goals for the next week? e.g. spend less time on-line, go for a 10 minute walk every day, go to bed before 1am. 
  •  What are my goals for next month? e.g. spend more time with family / friends, go for a 15 minute walk every day.
  •  What are my goals for the next 3 months? e.g., feel happier, start a new hobby, go for a 20 minute walk every day.
