Lessons need to be learnt from inquiry into football and child sexual abuse

The brave and public disclosure of historic abuse by a professional football player led to hundreds of other complaints by players in the professional and amateur game. There is lots we can take away from this disclosure to help keep children safe from abuse in sport and other clubs, with better disclosure schemes, educating children on what is acceptable behaviour and ensuring adults know how to spot the signs of abuse.

‘Seek help if a loved one is viewing sexual images of under 18s’ urges helpline, as Covid sparks rise in calls

Despite the pandemic, the Stop It Now! helpline had its busiest year ever in 2020, handling more than 12,500 contacts – up from 10,700 in 2019. We have mainly had calls from people concerned about their own or someone else’s online behaviour, and our encouraging those in a similar situation to call and get anonymous support.
